Joe's a great guy and a fabulous camera person. He has a discerning perspective, and the shots he caught of my daughters wedding we're fantastic. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding this weekend, and as we posed for all of the pictures, it really made me think about how lucky Josh and I were to have had you for our photographer. Their photographer was okay, but you really were above and beyond. You blended so well into our wedding party, made an effort to learn all of our names and really took some great photographs. You gave us tips on how to hold our flowers, how to stand, how to try to act that the camera wasn't there. You remembered the pictures on our list so we were able to get through them quickly and efficiently, and you were open to any other suggestions that we gave you for additional pictures. You witnessed some of the most memorable moments of our day and you took perfect shots so we could cherish them forever. Plus, you were patient and worked with us. Jay was the photographer for our wedding. It was an unusual setup—the small wedding was July 10 at Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada. The bigger reception was on July 24 on an Argosy boat on Lake Washington. Jay was there for both occasions. He went to extraordinary lengths to get up to Canada for the wedding. While there he worked seamlessly with the wedding planner to capture every moment. At the actual event he contributed immensely to the special quality of the day- he knew when, and how, to say things to capture the significance of each moment. He made us laugh when we got a little stressed. Each of the guests commented about how personable, professional, and skillful he was as he went around and got pictures of everyone. He was also incredibly creative- we were climbing on huge rocks, and he was jumping over large creeks just to get the right shot. When I look back at the pictures, we were laughing in most of them or suppressing smiles, and Jay was a huge part of the reason for that. The wedding was beautiful, and he interjected a lot of fun.
For the reception 2 weeks later Jay set up a video display of the wedding pictures on the boat (not an easy feat, especially in 2 weeks’ time). He again helped the atmosphere of fun, and got lots of great shots of the setting that I never would have thought to be important until much later.
So much of our memories of weddings are triggered by the photos. I’m so glad that our pictures were done by somebody who knew how to capture the fun and touching moments. There are SO many pictures that are “frameable” it’s really hard to choose. Choosing Jay as our photographer was one of the smartest choices we made to have the best wedding imagineable. - courtney
